Welcome to the ChatHUMAN podcast series.

Although AI chatbots prove that that even while bombarded with information, we still want more, there is much about public and academic libraries that we take for granted.

Why are libraries alternately treasured, ignored, or targeted for elimination or even destruction around the world? Let’s have human conversations about these topics and find out.

ChatHUMAN is a project of friends of the library, which is a partnership between the Action Academe initiative based at Tunxis Community College and the Engaged Liberal Arts & Sciences (ELAS) program of Bard College’s Center for Civic Engagement.

I’m J.I. Abbot. I teach English and Philosophy full-time at Tunxis. Joining me is Eric Dougherty of Bard College.

Honoring our academic libraries helps forge the identity of this community partnership, which is made possible through robust alliances with kindred cultural institutions in the public trust.

ChatHUMAN: Library Lore from the College’s Front Porch.
