Final Resting Place by Chelsey Cooker And to you I kneel humbly before Admiration, trepidation etched lightly upon my face Waves of recollection shatter me Shards of my former self cascading softly, Encircling what I have become. Fragments discarded from a once fractured mind Dissolve into the confines of completion And I can taste the absolution The invigorating weightlessness Of an unanticipated freedom. And a warmth envelops me, Spreads over my skin, seeps into my bones Encouraging my eyes upward, unabashed. All traces of unease dissipate Replaced solely with an unwavering sense of vigor. For I now know my soul will no longer Traverse this road in solitude But amble on, each footstep echoing secrets Of a well fed rapport. Tenderness has overpowered my defenses And a love so divine Has removed all sense of mistrust. I thank you for breaking me For tearing down my walls For forcing me to see that love Is not always unrequited, But that time brings forth the kindred spirit The soul craves so deeply. ___________________________________________________

2001: a space odyssey (homage to Kubrick) by Martin Rakich-Kelly Dawn of man, dumb, evolving. Rise of man, in ships revolving. Machines evolve, to help out man, With complex tasks the best they can. Accept mistakes HAL cannot do, And that’s why he’ll come after you. “Open the pod-bay doors please HAL.” “I’m afraid I can’t do that Dave, my pal.” “The mission is to important Dave, Instead I’ll send you to your grave.” But Dave persists, and HAL insists, Deactivation Dave should resist. But the choice is Dave’s to make, Kill HAL for the missions sake. The missions done and man evolves, Around the cosmos he revolves.
